SMS Terms & Consent

Affordable Housing Technologies Inc, operating as Applyfi

What Applyfi is

Applyfi is used by housing authorities and affordable-housing property managers to collect and review applications for affordable rental and for-sale homes. People receive messages from us only because they are applying for housing through one of those organizations, or have been asked to help with an application.

How you opt in

Text messages are optional. Nobody is enrolled automatically, and consent is never a condition of applying for housing. While completing an application, an applicant may tick a consent box next to their phone number. It is unchecked until they choose to check it:

Shown above exactly as it appears in the application, in its default state — this is the same control the form renders, not a copy of it. You can also see it in context.

What we send

  • Application status updates
  • Requests for a missing or unclear document
  • Reminders about items still outstanding on an application
  • Notices that a third party has been asked to verify income or tenancy

Messages are transactional and tied to a specific application. We never send marketing or promotional text messages, and we do not sell or share phone numbers with third parties for their own marketing.

If you reply

You are welcome to reply to any message. Replies are answered automatically by Etty, our AI assistant — not by a person. Etty can tell you how many items are still outstanding on your application and point you to the right place to deal with them.

Text messaging is not a secure channel, so we keep it deliberately narrow. Etty will not discuss personal details by text — not your income, your household, your address, nor what any document says or why it was queried. Log in and she can go through all of it with you there.

Please do not send personal information or documents by text. That means no Social Security numbers, account numbers or dates of birth, and no photos, screenshots or files. Anything you text that looks like an identifying number is removed before your message is stored. Photos and documents sent by text are not added to your application and are not retrieved by us — they have to be uploaded while you are logged in, which is the only way they reach your file.

Replies are answered only for the phone number of the person applying, and only while consent is on file for that number. If you are a co-applicant or someone helping with an application, or your number has changed, log in instead — we will point you there rather than continue by text.

Your text messages are kept with your application, in the same conversation as anything you discuss with Etty after logging in, and staff at the housing organization handling your application can read them — as they can your other messages and documents.

Message frequency and cost

Frequency varies with the progress of an application — typically a few messages per application, and none once it is complete. Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan.

How to stop messages

Reply STOP to any message to stop all further texts. You will receive one confirmation, and nothing after that. Reply START to resume, or HELP for assistance. You can also untick the consent box in your application, or ask the housing organization handling your application to remove your number.

Opting out of text messages does not affect your application. We will continue to reach you by email and through the portal.
